Ah I misread you the first time around. My original comment had no flamewar material in it, and it received a bunch of drive-by downvotes (and upvotes), with no attempts to add to the conversation. This behaviour is hardly conducive to well thought out conversation. I took an educated guess and assumed some Rustaceans skimmed my comment and took offense because they didn't thoroughly read it, as that was the only thing that I could even imagine causing downvotes, so I attempted to start a conversation. I'm well aware of the guidelines, I chose to ignore them in this instance because, as stated above, drive-by downvoting is not how one adds to the discussion. Now there are at least people discussing, which is the only reason for HN as a platform to exist. You're welcome HN!
