The article doesn’t mention Google collecting and storing location information even when it’s turned off, and having the users figure out more convoluted ways to get rid of that tracking. Scrubbing this information periodically is not a substitute for not collecting or storing it in the first place. Whenever that’s done, I’ll probably accept that Google is doing something for privacy.
