The comments on this article are great - I give huge props to Jeff Atwood for showing up, commenting, and staying polite and not getting overly defensive.


I said this very thing a few weeks ago.

CodingHorror is no longer a daily look for me. More like weekly or monthly.

If you look back, you'll see the quality of posts went down soon after Jeff began advertising on his blog. I think that the "pressure to publish" caused him to stop trying to publish important things, but to just publish liberally to get eyeballs.


Pressure to publish? He has published 5-6 posts a week since 2004. His rate hasn't changed, and if you page through his pre-ad archives, the quality ratio is about the same as now.


If anything, his quantity of posting in the last 30 days has slowed from the .9x a day he used to post.

Really though, the postings from last June pale in comparison to the poor posts from the past 60 days which include thinly veiled shills for products.


A little decent is always good. The comments are good too.
