Amazon is rewriting the proprietary enterprise features of ES from scratch and giving them away for free.

Also, their MongoDB "distro" is just "Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility)". That's not going to be open source, because it took a lot of work to basically rewrite most of Mongo.
