I find this kinda sad since both speck and simon are really nice algorithms. The analysis that has been done also shows that seem secure. Moreover, they are simple I have made several implementations, and one that runs simon on a FPGA. It honestly would be hard to sneak a back door in my opinion.

Also keep this in mind the US government also wants to use these algorithms. Why would they use a broken symmetric cipher?
