Yes, and by the time you're done supporting everything it's no longer a "light markup" but a complex format that is difficult to implement support for, much like the (specified and open) docx format.
fortunately, i don't find that to be the case for myself.
and i like the simplicity and flexibility and freedom of
plain-text as my format of choice. but if you or anybody else
prefers something different, i urge you to take that path.
