Google Pacman (google.com)

So we're linking to one of the google homepage graphics, because you know no one who uses HN will have ever seen it.

The post probably wants to show that there's now a definite place for it, /pacman/, even if the homepage doodle changes.

That, and it's not just a graphic.. it's an actual, playable HTML5/JS game.

The other thread said that it wasn't HTML5.

You're right. I assumed canvas but it's just document elements and Flash for sound.

Explains why there is no sound on my Nexus One.

Too bad it won't play with my trackball or something...

Also, who the hell actually sees the Google homepage anymore?

That you are being downvoted is sufficient proof for me that HN has changed. A Pac-Man game isn't hacker news. Even if Google made it.

My guess is that any downvotes are because of the sarcastic tone. Sarcasm has (mercifully) never been a part of HN culture in my recollection.

Ok, fair enough. But I stand by the point that a Pac-Man game still isn't hacker news.

Agreed, it's as non-HN news as a link to about:blank because I would put money on the fact that everyone using HN in a non-chrome browser has google set as their default homepage.

That bet would fail. (I, at least, use about:mozilla .)

Then I owe you at least a penny, would you like it couriered or hand delivered? And would you prefer it in British, Canadian, American or Euro? I have all four.
