While I disagree with kens's reckons, I don't think "well, one's a subset of the other" is very useful. Z is a ring, Q is a field, C is an algebraically closed field, and there's an awful lot of "stuff" in between Q and C (R is the obvious one, but there are all those number field extensions of Q).
