So what? Why is it important that OpenWhisperSystems is partnered with WhatsApp? Can you trust these people?

Yeah, I trust Moxie. He's worked really hard on security for a long time. If the government came to his house and threatened to shoot him unless he sabotaged Signal and WhatsApp, I expect he would get shot.
