Anyone else find it ironic that the site has a twitter, facebook, g+, diaspora share bar hovering on the right hand side?

Not really, because those are good old links that don't contact a 3rd party server before being clicked. The standard Like buttons connect on page load, instead of on click.

Those icons are locally hosted so Twitter, Facebook, etc only know that you were on the site if you click on one of those links.
