Merry Christmas!

The gem of this story is the author is not running unit test in what most folks understand a unit test is. As he also pointed out, he is executing the tests on target so it is more of an integration tests rather than unit tests. In the test that he is doing, it brings in new categories of potential faults. ie scheduling issues, memory constraints, interrupts servicing,

Who would you escalate to if you run out of capacity to wash your dishes in your current sprint? :-)

Joking aside, how would you use this tool for your private tasks?

Buy a house and you now have 100 odd jobs a year to do. Start with that.

If the OP had said private projects, I would agree but he mentioned private tasks. So I imagined him using the tool for daily chores and such. but I think your statement make more sense.

The audience must be factored in when crafting the story. Because it dictates aspects of it. the language used, the embellishments added/removed, delivery method, the actors etc must be carefully crafted.

Some stories are short and straight to the point.

I had a colleague where if the analogies are used to as part of the story told, the message is not full understood by him.

As I load up the website, it dithers for a moment before the full image comes up. I love this effect...Have I gone full circle from my dialup days? I think I have...

> Whatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature. CD distortion, the jitteriness of digital video, the crap sound of 8-bit - all of these will be cherished and emulated as soon as they can be avoided.

— Brian Eno

Not only is it a nice effect.... but the Muhammad Ali landing page is downright insane. That hero image choice is pure gold. It is insanely brave to not put the product in the hero too. Utter envy.

Edit: OH MY GOD, THE PACKAGING.

It's so nice, actually. Great little effect that fits well with the rest of the page's aesthetic.

No joke. I saw a job advert classifying bank holidays as a perk. Job was in a western European country.

But what is it that you want to do with these retro computers beside playing Wolf3D? As you mentioned even the most basic of RPi can run the pants of the Atari ST machines, so it is hardly a fair usage of the computer if you want to do modern tasks.

Sadly, physical calculators will soon be extinct as it will be replaced with calc app on the mobile phones.

The fact that hasn't happened after 15 years of smartphones suggests it won't happen at all.

There's still a market for dedicated calculators. Schools don't allow students access to smartphones during tests, but calculators are fine.

Because of calculator lobbyists?

because of schools and cheating

For some reason, I imagined it would use its eight appendages and throw things like you see in a cartoon. Maybe I am watching too many cartoons. :-)

No you're onto something, "throw" seems like it might not be the most appropriate verb here. This is more akin to blowing or spitting.

Like those wiz-kids on the arcade basketball machines?

I would LOVE to see the octopus version of Road Runner cartoons. The part of Wile E Coyote would have to be recast.

Oh, yeah, man, that riveting nature documentary -- Squiddly Diddly.
