Somehow I missed this. Although I'm currently a canon shooter I first started on Olympus gear. Tbh it was fine for a beginner but the image quality wasn't competitive with canon or Nikon.
This is pretty good for someone who can speak Cantonese but can't read/write it.
As an example, I speak Mandarin and can't read/write (much) Chinese characters as I spoke it at home while growing up in Australia. So, I can imagine there'd be quite a lot who are in a similar situation to me but with Cantonese who would benefit from this (not just as a learning tool).
I've been using the Zhongwen[0] browser extension to "read" websites that have Chinese characters for many years as hovering over Chinese characters will display a popup with the pronunciation ping yin. It may not be the speediest way of understanding a block of Chinese text.
I could imagine someone creating a browser extension that would replace the font used on the website(s) with the Cantonese Visual Font when the extension is enabled.
There's AltStore, but it's obviously not as straightforward as the Apple one. https://altstore.io/
Came across it while following the development and distribution of iSH (https://ish.app/), which has now made it into the main app store.
Prior to publishing to AltStore, iSH was only available on Test Flight, which has a limitation on the number of users who can join (10,000). So they'd periodically have to kick inactive users off the TestFlight so others could try it.
Film Victoria is a state based organisation. The Australian Federal funding for this type of thing was closed in 2014 [0]. I believe they are one of the few states to provide funding to indie game devs.
Funding from the Vic government has made lots of cool indies possible. I'm pretty used to seeing their logo pop up at the beginning of a game now. It's really good to see such a successful arts funding program, and the thriving community that it's helped make in Melbourne.
The Tasmanian state government also presents funding for video game startups. Giant Margarita, and Myriad Games both from Hobart have received funding.
