GP didn't say all parrots wouldn't survive - they said a majority wouldn't without a flock, which your link seems to at least partially agree with.

The difference is that those other mediums enable a conversation - if someone gives bad advice, you'll often have someone else saying so.

It's really remarkable how, every single time Wikipedia comes up on HN, there's a bunch of comments about bias and such... and yet never a single example is ever linked.

There are examples listed on this page and in many discussions.

> Ironically, the safest place to host a private VPN service may actually be USA given the way privacy-related things in the EU are going.

Why, because American companies are never forced to do things because of copyright and/or law enforcement?

> There are now enough statistics to prove that social media has a negative impact on the mental health of users, especially children and adolescents

Can you share some? All of these statistics I've seen seem to establish correlation, not causation.

Is there a statistic for anything that proves causation? I’m trying to think how you would do that as a number and not a logical argument

I suppose "studies" or something similar might have been a better word.

You had an LLM rewrite your resume, and then sent it to employers... without proofreading it? That was certainly a choice.

Tut tut, judgemental one. The point is the sharing - with us - let's not discourage that.

After all, if he didn't feel foolish for it, he wouldn't've held it in his memory, and thus wouldn't've shared it with us.

Who among us hasn't written an angry email, re-(re-)read it, smugly hit send, slept on it, then regretted the sending?

I read it. It seemed perfect. I am enthusiastic about new tech, so probably on my first read I overlooked things that later started bugging me

Ah I see I myself misread that you re-read it. My mistake. That's a lot more understandable in my opinion than simply not reading it at all :P

> Old Internet times that will probably never come back.

I don't understand. How can you say this on a post about a site that is almost the exact same thing you're reminiscing about? Arguably way cooler - at least WebTiles isn't charging money for spots.

I know. But on the Internet everybody was talking about the One Million Dollar Home Page.

I don't think WebTiles will be front page news tomorrow.

What am I missing about Nick's behavior that is unreasonable?

None of it is reasonable. This is an online version of a schoolyard tiff. Neither side in that email chain is reasonable or mature.

What's wrong with that? She's working... at a computer... while holding her baby in a carrier?

FFS, everyone has gotten so self serious.

Familiarize yourself with the 'peak male performance' meme and you'll understand my meaning.

Let me make it easy for you: She's killing it in what would appear to be a less than ideal circumstance. She's swatting down people messing with her business while raising a child.
