Alang is an interesting place to look at in Google maps. Make sure to check the street views.

Very interesting. I spotted quite a lot of totally enclosed lifeboats along the main street, including what looked like a business selling enclosed lifeboats. I didn't imagine there was a used market for enclosed lifeboats but a google lead me to Alibaba and they go for hundreds to 10s or 1000s of dollars.

The pattern seems to be that companies leave job postings up in order to conceal whether they are actually hiring.

For a major US airline, a 30 year old plane would be among their oldest and near retirement. United Airlines has an older fleet by US standards and their oldest airliner is 33 years old. For American Airlines, the oldest aircraft is 26 years old.

Certainly, age is not the only factor. Flight hours and cycles matter as well when evaluating condition.

> Who spends 10k/year on a car[?]

The average new car buyer. The average payment on a new car is now $726 per this source (some sources have even higher numbers). That's about $8700 per year. That plus insurance, fuel, and maintenance puts you well over $10k.

Car payments aren't "spending money on a new car". You don't own it yet, you're still buying it.

The insurance, fuel and maintenance are correct though.

Journalists normally report the charge as written in court documents. Washington state appears to have "vehicular homicide" defined as a specific offense, but not "vehicular manslaughter". It would not be more precise to report an incorrect name for the charged offense.

Mainly because of price. The #1 best selling laptop on Amazon right now has 8gb of ram, but it costs $299. People spending 2x or 3x the price of an entry-level laptop expect more.

Frankly they are getting more. Apple Silicon outperforms budget Intel and AMD processors.

> So while I agree that creating what looks like arbitrary limitations some of the lower models is very annoying ( particularly around external monitor support [1] ) - you can see why commercially they might have done so.

This is Apple's strategy for segmenting their products. Their lower priced models typically have a painful limitation or missing feature. For the macbook air it's lack of support for external displays.

> For the macbook air it's lack of support for external displays.

Lack of support for a third display (counting the internal display). And that's not specific to the MacBook Air but rather to the base SoC vs the Pro and Max chips. IIRC the M3 added the slight improvement that closing the lid disables the internal display and allows for driving a second external display.

Divided by four, right, so $12k? I would think the medical, rehab, lost wages/productivity, and disability costs of an average table saw hand injury would easily exceed $12k.

It is not that simple. Replacing a saw is a loss to the business owner, while an employee losing a finger by his own fault costs nothing to the company.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, this is not true. If you are injured at the workplace while performing your work duties and you are not actively intoxicated on drugs or alcohol, then you are entitled to medical care and worker's compensation for that injury. It is absolutely something that has a cost to the company.

Apparently you've never heard of this thing called worker's compensation.
