Very cool.

I just signed up, but was a bit frustrated by the hijacked experience for sign-up as it broke my LastPass plugin to generate and save my password. Just wanted to point this out.

That’s great feedback, thank you! We’ll definitely see if we can test across a few different password managers / signup experiences to make sure it’s a smoother process.

Same here. Was expecting Safari to suggest a password, yet it did not. By inspecting the cause I was appalled to see custom inputs! Mother of dragons!

Honest question: what would compel someone into making a decision like this?

You mean why would somebody build custom inputs? We need our inputs on Autocode to do a whole ton of custom stuff; support emoji insertion, allow for an autocomplete dropdown, support typeahead autocomplete, have multiple layers for syntax highlighting (code editor).

So we roll our own components for a lot of this stuff. We don't have problems with every password manager; the raw HTML input element is still there. I think it's probably an easy fix, we just gotta look into it.

None of those use cases apply for authentication though right? Or are people using emojis for logins now? Even if they were, standard browser form input I’m sure would handle them fine natively.

(1) Design systems and components. We'd rather use the same thing everywhere, if possible. (Unless of course, it disrupts user login and end-user experience... which is why we'll look into making it better!)

(2) I actually think this can be fixed with a few HTML attribute changes but I won't know for sure until I dig in. If you can imagine, we have a laundry list of items piling up to take care of :)

For (2), you may find the section 'Other useful autocomplete values' from this article helpful:

This makes sense to me. Thanks for the response~

Learned a lot

Take a look at https://www.skyscanner.com. They have a "cheapest month" feature. All you have to do is choose your destination.

To see it, choose your flight then in the date pop-up choose Whole Month -> Cheapest Month.

I believe they also have the inverse where you can choose a month and a departure city and they'll give you destinations by price. I couldn't find it quickly though but I think they have it.

While it doesn't work amazing everywhere, I love skycanner's map feature: Pick a month and destinations and prices shown on a map. https://www.skyscanner.com/cheap-flights-map

I sometimes do the opposite for this: put my destination as my starting point, and use that to figure out which city is the best for me to fly out of.

I live near a border, and can arrange my life around a few other cities if the savings are worth it (e.g. visit family or see another city a few hours from me)

I mentioned in a child but I wanted to point out there are different species of bees. Solitary bees are growing in popularity and offer more effective pollination than the tradition honey bee and are non-(or less)aggressive.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bee#Solitary_and_communal_bees

Is it possible to explicitly host a colony of non-stinging bees to keep away stinging varieties?

I have family members who are terrified of bees. Don’t want someone to step on a bee and get stung, etc

Yes. However, it isn't really a colony or hive. I actually had my first bee house this summer (in Texas) in hopes of pollinating my apple tree (spoiler - it worked).

I bought 40 Mason bee larva from https://masonbeesforsale.com around March and around May I found some reeds in my bee house filled with mud (meaning they had created their nest). It was a fun experiment and at no time did I feel like bees were swarming. If anything, they actually left my yard an pollinated my neighbors plants.

If your humanity is intrigued then take a look at Solitary bees many are either stingless or less aggressive by nature of not being hive driven. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bee#Solitary_and_communal_bees

Scrubbed till tomorrow, May 16th at 7:30pm EST.

Why on earth can't people learn to use UTC? (not directing this at you, just general HN bahaviour) We agree on date standard but time has to be some mystery acronym.

> It's tomorrow at 11:11,5 GLOMQRSFFFFTIP'YËGOH`rockSWAMSWAM time.

Surely you can't expect everyone to learn these, right?

No, 7:30pm Pacific, 10:30pm eastern.

And not EST regardless.

We are in EDT not EST.

Put up an example board of all the metrics that a user will see prior to them needing to sign-up.

I'm not sure if the design is an all or nothing approach - meaning PH, Stripe, and GA are required, but if there is the ability to position the metric views on boards, having an example for users to look at or even themes based on type of products would be interesting.

Good feedback, letting people see the board beforehand - thank you.

It would be crazy cool if the "Example board" had the real data for your company.

If we could track your progress using the tool you are selling it makes it really fun to root for you!

I know that is really difficult information to give out though, especially when one of the numbers isn't what you would want to advertise.

Do you have any insight into a SQL Management Studio for Mac?

SQL Server Management studio is the entire reason I am running a Windows VM. I would love SSMS on Mac.

I'm not sure what you use it for, but I have been really happy with jet brains datagrip product on the mac talking to SQL Server. I know SSMS does a lot of stuff, but for querying, DDL, ETC DataGrip works great.

This really speaks to my own experiences as well, but I'm thankful to have begun my path to relearn my native language earlier than she had. There really is something really empowering about speaking in your first language. I absolutely love the line where she says that what appears to be quirks and oddities of one's family in the Anglophone world are fully accepted in the homeland.

There shouldn't even be a debate between people who approve of reversing aging and those who do not. Whoever doesn't approve... when the treatment will finally be available... just don't use it! I'll use my freedom of decision and my money to extend my life, thank you! If you want to die, go ahead.
