My first thought was the Airbnb article "React Native at Airbnb" https://medium.com/airbnb-engineering/react-native-at-airbnb...

I understand how examples like this stick in people's minds, however, just because one company decided not to move forward with a technology doesn't mean that all companies will do the same.

Facebook has continued to use it, Microsoft has begun using it heavily, Twitter uses it on the web[0], Discord has been very happy with it -- and countless other examples.

Thanks for the hnrss.org examples!

Absolute. I'm using the Nextcloud News plugin which works great and keeps in sync between my devices. Actually I even wrote my own Android client. Because I couldn't find the perfect reader app for me.

RSS feeds for the win. It keeps my feed clean and chronologically ordered.

That's very cool! I like that the whole project is packed into one html file and that you made it together with your daughter. I'm also working on an open source logic/math game for ~8+(depending on the mini game). If parents on HN are interested in trying it out with their children, please do it and give me feedback https://braincup.app/

It's the other way around :) osmand is a good alternative for maps.me because maps.me doesn't care about your privacy and has 20 privacy tracker dependencies installed(check out the exodus privacy app). osmand has zero

As mentioned elsewhere, F-Droid hosts a version of Maps.me that is ad- and tracker-free.

I switched from maps.me to osmand recently after I found out about the 20 tracker dependencies on the Exodus Privacy app. osmand has zero trackers and so many cool features that I use. Love it :)

I both wrote games with Unity and Kotlin. Kotlin makes me much more productive and libgdx is well more suited for 2D games. Backend in unity?

I donate to a bunch of Open Source software and games that I use and believe in.

I recently donated to: Mozilla, VLC, Veloren, Shattered Pixel Dungeon, Bitwarden

With my donations I hope to make an impact on the projects so that more people use them.

Little fun fact: DDG respects my macbook dark mode settings, google doesn't

Only if you don't change any of the appearance settings :(

HackerNews rule #76: dark mode is going to be brought up, no matter what the discussion is about.
