Wait are you telling me that Dana White was put on the board for Meta as a favor and not his incredible social media acumen?

Yeah, this has read to me as another double win for the Disaster Capitalist class. I'm sure we'll be seeing record profits for the s & p 500 by year's end no matter the outcome for the rest of us.

Love The Skull, I'll have to look up Queen in the Cave

Never heard of this.... incredible. Thanks to you and the brave makers of websites that just load.

Yup yup yup. I cracked my keyboard and got a paperwhite. I love the dark mode for late night reading but would probably go back to a refurbished keyboard in the face of any strife; just like the old form factor more.

I find the Kindle keyboard pretty much perfect.

Even the battery surgery wasn't that hard and fixed the only problem mine had.

If he was publishing as far back as the 50's I'm sure he was familiar with the beat writers and probably interacted with them, not to mention his style feels closer to a bridge between the beats and the hippies. The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test is a great document of the transitory era between the two.

Don't threaten me with a good time

An insurance adjuster defending insurance companies. Sounds good to me!

Was it CHANGE? My kid has already had his data exposed by companies affiliated with UHC twice. He's not even in Kindergarten yet.

Ours was. 3 kids with their data exposed when they were 4 and 2 respectively (the 4 year olds are twins).

yes

related tidbits: * UHC only acquired CHANGE 2-3 years ago hoping for AI gold. data is sometimes nuclear waste, eh? * unconfirmed by me if CHANGE was UHC vendor prior to acquision but seems likely * Biden DOJ blocked the acquisition since it gave UHC access to competitor info managed by CHANGE, then later caved * some CHANGE server didnt have MFA but was "supposed to" ... but theres probably more not disclosed * it's widely (unusual for a hack) reported UHC did pay the hacker 22 million ransomware. maybe our kids numbers were saved but nobody actually saying that * The hacker claiming responsibility for the hack was arrested in russia just now (see krebs blog). Within 72hrs of the assasination. No way thats a coincidence. Havent seen that angle reported yet though. Surely some strings being pulled or heat applied somewhere...

Lol lots of SV freaks in the comments here very close to having their "are we the baddies" moment

It's interesting to see how both HN threads are noticeably more "moderate" and "rational" than the vast majority on online responses such as Reddit.

After joining hackernews I realized people here are generally open minded and thinkers. If you provide a valid point they will often reflect on their stance.

Hackernews is my fav forum.
