When I learned about Chernobyl reactor, I was surprised how bad the design decisions were. Casing the reactor core in wooden housing?

I think Apple is making the right move. They are responsible and accountable, and users don't understand how anything works. I'm reminded of the various browsers with toolbar addons bloating up the screen.

I think we can do our part to vote up the comments that are more supportive and change the norm.

I don't think it's a matter of HR necessarily. HR has guidelines because a lot of their job has to do with compliance. Big companies absolutely need large HR departments because a lot more regulations apply.

Which regulation states that promotions should be based on browser history?

Validity of this study might be disputable since I'm not as experienced scrutinizing scientific studies, but visual and auditory information is shown to have close corollary effect. Retention and comprehension is supposedly similar, so I agree with you. Engagement is definitely key.

I suppose it depends on what the focus is. I've heard of bootcamps cramming as many technologies as possible into their course to make people seem employable. It's definitely not worth it to have sporadic surface-level knowledge.

Interesting! Never expected smartwatches to be anything more than trendy fads, but that makes a lot of sense. I do think a lot of phone anxiety comes from the screen being obscured from vision and the wondering that follows about whether I am "missing out". Limiting the use case by only having essential notifications on your wrist might be a good alternative to switching to a regular phone.

It seems to me that a lot of tech companies do slightly shady things under the guise of social progress and what not. It's the gateway to market share, then "dominance" to dictate whatever they want. While challenging Google is important, it's a good PR move nonetheless.

Brave is also built on top of Chromium. What ramifications that might have I'm not sure.

Chromium is a tool; how you use it is up to you. Brave removes any parts that may phone-home to Google. At the end of the day though, Chromium is less important than the principles upon which the company is founded. With Brave vs Google, that's "Can't be evil" vs "Don't be evil". The difference is subtle, yet profound.

Also, convenience. Large number of branches and ATMs make it more accessible. Decentralized systems will have to be similarly convenient to get mainstream adoption initially.

I think whether the new apps are innovating is irrelevant. Apple's making the decision for them. As a company, they've always kept things locked down, so I'm not surprised.
