I subscribe to the paid service and use it from time to time. I think it's quite good at what it is supposed to do: convert a "plain" screenshot into a particular type of presentation-ready image.
Like many utilities, there are countless other ways to get to a similar result, but I personally don't want to think through exactly what tools and adjustments would be needed. So, for me, $5/month is a good value to get a task off my plate every once in a while. Thanks for making it!
That seems like it would be tricky, as the video and audio would get out of sync. You would have to remove, then "fill" to keep the timing. Though this product does mention it works with multiple speakers on different tracks...so they are already somewhat in that space.
For video is quite tricky. One thing with Video is that you don't want to over edit the audio, since its then very hard to keep the video synced. That said for explainer video it should work ok, but for a Video Podcast it would be horrible. I have an idea how to deal with this, but this is not now available.
PS Separately, if you ever felt like it, it would be lovely to have a poster (or similar short thing in your style) about CSS Selectors specifically, to give to our customers. (To use our stuff, it's good to know about selectors but don't need to know about styling/positioning and such.)
welcome! honestly been thinking about making it into a nicer site with previews and commentary and faving and stuff. just gotta find the time (heh, as with all side projects)
Personally I’m excited to switch to the Mozilla branded VPN. I expect it will be a good try at a VPN service, and it will hopefully be a way for them to make a bit of extra money. If it fails, it fails and I’ll pick another.
There are companies launching on HN and employing people on HN all the time. Those companies may or may not survive the long haul. I don’t see how I can sensibly demand more of a promise from the software and services that I buy, vs. what we (collectively) promise to our own users or customers.
"It now takes something like 4 taps to get to the point where I can correct or otherwise edit the URL in my mobile browser (Safari)"
Just FYI, you can touch once in the URL bar to set focus to it (the whole URL will be selected), then touch and hold down on the keyboard (which will then act like a desktop touchpad) to move the cursor around to edit the URL.
I find this handy, though it took me a while to get used to it.
I personally like American Giant [1] and Flint & Tinder [2].
Neither has as wide a selection as GAP, and are more on the casual side, but have stuff that can work as business casual. The latter is menswear only, so if you're female not so useful.
I find that olive oil combined with a bit of butter works pretty well in non-nonstick pans. I start with maybe a teaspoon or so of olive oil in the center of the pan and let that heat up a bit, then add a small amount of butter and wait for it to melt and bubble, then crack the egg directly over the puddle of oil/butter. This has worked well for me, even in otherwise testy pans like worn-out nonsticks, iron skillets, etc.
