OOC, do you view Intel's projections as being too slow or just plain wrong (i.e., impossible)? I am not knowledgeable about this industry or the engineering behind it, just follow it casually, and I'm shocked to see 1.4nm on a slide.
Many people disagree with you, and want to live in a society where only exceptional people can live comfortably, and the rest of them live miserably. Many, many, many of the miserable people actually like it better this way, which is proven by their voting habits.
I think that it's hard to determine people's desires from voting habits. Voting is kind of a game, wouldn't you say? It's got teams and everything, almost like a spectator sport.
When asked directly, though, progressive policies (or whatever word you want to use here to mean "anti-misery") are very popular!
This is like describing socialism as being about authoritarian governments and centrally planned economies. Everybody misuses labels to their advantage.
I spent a few years doing indie game development, and one of this biggest lessons that stuck with me was how to think about a product as an experience. To me, game design was mostly that, but focused on making the experience fun, I guess. A huge amount of time and effort went into thinking about what the end user's experience would be like. By instinct, I tend to lean on thinking about the "player's" experience.
Considering the space race was abstractly, a push for strategic dominance of a physical domain newly enabled by technologies. I think it’s more likely this time around we will see a push into newly opened digital domains, e.g ml based cyber warfare.
Well, space is still out there though, and current tech is much better suited to dominate it than 60s tech. The first nation to figure out space mining and manufacturing will be light years ahead of any competitor
