Please stop it calling AGI, we don’t even know or agree universally what that should actually mean. How far did we get with hype calling a lossy probabilistic compressor firing slowly at us words AGI? That’s a real bummer to me
Not being able to send an email or believing the world is flat it’s not a sign of intelligence, I’d rather say it’s more about culture or being more or less scholarized. Your mom or coworker still can do stuff instinctively that is outperforming every algorithm out there and still unexplained how we do it. We still have no idea what intelligence is
I agree, it’s just more about the intent than anything else, like boasting about your amazing new job when someone has recently been made redundant, just before Christmas.
To be fair it predates 2016 when the term “immediate mode ui” was “invented”. uis as a function of state were and still are the norm on game development. React introduced this concept on top of “retained mode ui” which is the dom. Never want to go back too despite people spreading so much hate which is not in the library itself I think but on the ecosystem. Maybe react become synonymous of too many companion libraries/bloated frameworks?
Wasn’t expressing UIs declaratively the original purpose of react? “The V in the MVC”. IMO it helped advancing the industry with declarative uis and Jsx
Universal healthcare is something will be soon be revisited imo. At least reviewed and shrinked, here in Italy too much money is spent on a system that’s collapsing. It’s not sustainable in the long period. The author in the article keeps saying “yet the economy isn’t collapsing” Economies don’t collapse in a day, it’s a slow process, Germany, and EU in general, are on a dangerous path. Crazy political decisions like shutting down nuclear power plants in Germany will resonate badly over time(partly already are) not just in a day or two. Some other crazy stuff: going full electric in all of the EU by 2030, be totally dependent from the US defense, counting nothing in a war we have at home, not having even a chip in the race for ai or technology in general, what we got left? Trains?
Sometimes I wonder why we would want LLMs spit out human readable code. Wouldn’t be a better future where LLMs generate highly efficient machine code and eventually we read the “source map” for debugging? Wasn’t source code just for humans?
I’d rather reply with LLMs aren’t just capable of that. They’re okay with Python and JS simply because there’s a lot of training data out in the open. My point was that it seems like we’re delegating the future to tools that could generate critical code using languages originally thought to be easy to learn.. it doesn’t make sense
I’m going to put a memo on the calendar for 2029, will then email Dr Kurzweil cause I want my best years back… Seriously I can’t believe the madness that’s going on and seems it’s getting worst day by day
