I think people still aren't accepting that Steve Jobs era marketing and product development left with the man. Apple is fundamentally different and is never going back.

Marketing yes, product development no. Jobs was a salesman, not an engineer or designer. He didn't contribute to the product of Apple despite his reputation for doing so.

Steve Jobs didn’t contribute to the product of Apple? Are you sure?

Ridiculous. I worked at Apple and if you have the correct permissions, you can see old Radars that Steve himself wrote and also the comments on them. He was profoundly insightful and absolutely drove product development. An absolute myth that he was just a “salesman.”

Many people who comment on Apple have never actually worked there and they think some curated history book tells the real story.

Go have a conversation with Eddie Cue or Craig Federighi about Steve. Or even Jony Ive. Perhaps talk to some of the original Lisa and Mac teams.

a noted Philadelphia legend who also made a large fortune on early Apple stock! she's as close you can get to a modern folk tale

im not sure if threatened is correct, i think it's more a collective "why?" And there hasn't been a particuarly convincing answer

Right, tons of gen AI stuff is super impressive. It's really cool that we can do all this stuff. In this thread we're talking about a fun toy.

But the actual practical applications are like, small useful tools. There's no real sign we're heading for a world-changing trillion dollar industry.

Yes that is my favorite part of the apple tv as well, that it adjusts output to the source frames and resolution. As long as you have a good looking panel with nice color you'll never need to get rid of it. 1080 can really look gorgeous even with everything today being 4k

My 2013 Panasonic plasma is still going strong with AppleTV as the primary input source.

Well, short of Pioneer Kuro units, the Panasonic plasmas were the best screens of their time and are still very, very good.

I was sad both to hear that Pioneer got out of the plasma TV business, and also to let go of mine. It was funny how Pioneer basically perfected the form then promptly exited--true to name I guess. Panasonic bought Pioneer's TV biz, so that was the upside.

Same here. I have a Panasonic Plasma hooked to the AppeTV 4K in the bedroom, and the picture quality is awesome.

I'm not saying data doesn't exist, but this kind of thing makes me laugh i suppose because its just dating. All my friends have no trouble getting girlfriends and as we are recent college graduate age, most do not have salaried jobs and if they do are not the highest paying jobs. In this 22-25 age range though I do notice most of these women are self sufficient usually employed in the service industry or entry level degree related position.

But overall dating is not something i care to even acknolwedge statistics about. Never going to find a partner if you're not living a fulfilling life and have unrealistic standards.

I couldn't stop playing. very fun game

This is an utterly insane take that frankly, couldn't be more inconsiderate of reality. Such a meaningless unimportant bit of news that no serious individual needs to pay any mind to

The article touches on this point, that many properties for rent are not being maitained in a timely or quality manner. I split $2000 a month in Philadelphia and our property management group doesn't even shovel snow at our building. I can afford it, but I cant pretend that about half my net income going to rent is exactly thrilling

membrane switches add value for the manufacturer, not the consumer. considerably cheaper than other solutions.

I have a Coway Airmega 150, and have been very happy with it. Coway makes a variety of models and they all are well designed. Mine is on the smaller side but it is quiet, automatic, and no annoying screens or beeps.
