From my reading of Balanced documentation, its on_behalf_of parameter allows a fledgling app to lean on Balanced for accounting.
"in order to determine how much money you owe a specific merchant, you can easily query and all the outstanding debits tied to this merchant and subtract the payouts you've already done to the merchant."
This seems like a nice advantage of Balanced especially if you don't want to go the Stripe connect route.
A feature that I wish Gmail would copy from Outlook.com is the ability to auto delete emails after a certain time. I have all email tagged with the intelligent Social updates category delete after three days.
I use Gmail and Outlook to manage different email accounts. The Outlook.com inbox has smart categories which are similar to these new Gmail categories/tabs. Instead of tabs across the top like Gmail, Outlook.com has Quick Views on the left hand side which activate the category filter.
Hopefully Gmail will allow you to customize what is filtered by their smart categories like Outlook.com does today.
I got started designing websites using FW MX 2004 before I graduated to writing CSS first. The ability to mockup designs and then use the slice export feature was great fun. I love Fireworks.
That's a very fascinating link. Are the claims made here true, that these charts are true to the 1980 definition of inflation? Are there any other factors that could make what is in these charts incorrect or misrepresented? I'm not from the US and don't have a first-hand impression of US price development.
It seems unlikely to me that the US has really had >7% yearly inflation for well over a decade. So what gives? The most compelling counterargument is simply that the charts in your link don't reflect reality.
Also MIT collects a large amount of data using online prices to determine inflation rates http://bpp.mit.edu/usa/
So the inflation calculations might indeed be inaccurate but there isn't much solid data to back it up.
I personally find it better to focus on issues that have lots of data such as the debt crisis [1], the growing costs of SS and medicare and the harmful effects of industry/government collusion [2] which are all very real and can be proven.
Hey I really like this app. Thanks for keeping a very simple style with the comments. I would like the ability to vote and write comments. Looking forward to the live tile updates. Also it would be cool to integrate the native sharing options to quickly share a link.
If you're looking to simply capture any binary data, Chute is not the ideal option. While we will offer access to even more sources than we have today, we're not focusing on the capture of documents, presentations or other non-media docs.
If you definitely need media, then we think we're a great solution since our tools only work with those types of files. That means that not only do we spend a lot of time working through how they arrive and get processed, but also in how delivered back to your users.
This leads me to my point about workflow. We've seen and learned that every app wants to use media files in different ways. That creates a number of unique challenges as a platform: authentication, rights management, terms of use, custom metadata, custom profile data, 3rd party processing ,etc.
For many, and we'd venture most, media apps - simply putting the file online won't be enough. It will have to go through a number of steps and more often than not, there's a need to capture additional data as part of the intake. Put another way, a media file's life only begins when it gets "online".
We're focused on those use cases first and foremost and think we'll be the ideal fit for anyone who needs the same thing.
We have two primary audiences today: brands/publishers and developers.
While there's a great deal of support for developers already, we know that there's a lot more that we can do and will be rolling out a great deal of new content soon.
I like how their API is similar to Twilio. I'm interested to some of the use cases that the FreeSWITCH platform allows, especially with Skype and Google Voice.
As a first time car buyer one and a half years ago TrueCar gave me confidence during negotiations. In my case I didn't use it to determine a no dicker price with the dealer. Instead it was the basis for my walk away price and counter offer.
I don't mind using Best Buy as a show room when they seem to have plenty of customers unwilling to do a simple google comparison shop before they leave for the store.
As long as wireless routers and HDMI cables continue to be foreign concepts to most consumers, brick and mortars like Best Buy will stick around.
