Unsurprisingly, core strength is a big part of cycling. It's a good test to lean down in a more aero position and lift your hands slightly off the bars and see how long you can hold it.

so less pressure on your wrists while typing would be quite the core workout over an extended period of time.

Oh boy do I know the feeling. We live overseas and both our kids were born here. So basically the first thing we had to do was get them their passports. Trying to get a 2-4 week old baby to open their eyes and look somewhat at the camera was... an experience.

Tip: Swaddle the baby, lie it on top of a plain light piece of fabric (we used one of my work shirts) and click the camera 100 times.

Having said that though, I'm starting to think an 8 month old would be even harder based on the fact that they move :D

A lot of it probably comes down to the amount of data you feed its algorithm right. If you train a lot (70+ miles of running per week), log absolutely everything, and wear the watch 24/7 then it's going to give you far better estimates than someone who just puts the watch on to run twice a week.

100%. Every semi-serious cyclists would be running a power meter first and foremost (heck even average joes these days because most modern high-end road bikes come with one already). Far easier to do a 20min/ramp test every so often instead of trying to focus on VO2 max.

Yup, but as I said, it's nice to not focus on a single number. FTP doesn't tell how well I can recover after a hill at 120% of ftp, so even though I work on increasing my ftp, it's nice to keep in mind other aspects as well. Both vo2max, but also just how I feel when doing it, how my heart rate is during comparative rides, or even how well I'm fueling.

This is something similar to what I've been working on. Currently designing a HAT for a Raspberry Pi that includes temp/humidity sensor as well as particle matter (PMS5003). Trying to end up with my own personal weather station which I'll then publish to a small web app.

It can hardly be called a fork when you wipe every mention of the original dev team in the codebase, and start a fresh changelog with 'Patched security fixes' whilst thanking his team. It's an absolute takeover not a fork.

The thanks come from the upstream release notes for 6.3.8, FWIW.

Night shift/2nd shift is a thing.

> Night shift/2nd shift is a thing.

Yes, of course and definitely I considered as I mention if he/she meant 2nd job, etc. Just the phrasing threw me off as it says 'day', then '10pm' and it's written as if it is a normal occurrence for the majority of the population (which would imply night shift/2nd shift is normal working times for the majority). Just wanted to get clarification from OP on exactly what was meant to satisfy my own curiosity.

Maybe they're working in a call center

> Call centre work is typically done overnight to accommodate time zones in the US, UK, and Australia

A lot of people tend to work US/EU hours in India because they're "takin' yer herbs!!".

Yeah my body is all kinds of confused also:

  - Write with my left
  - Cricket/golf right
  - Tennis/squash left
  - Bowl/throw left
  - Mouse right
  - Drink left
  - Eat right (fork in left hand, knife in right)
  - Cut left (but usually don't bother because scissors never work)
  - I also kick well off both feet (although favor the left foot slightly)
I'm definitely more left dominant but can usually do most things well enough with my right. I was also never told/forced to be right-handed.

I thought I was the only one like that, except my dominant leg for kicking is the right one, and I eat with fork on right hand, knife on left; and I use scissors with my right hand. I also play the guitar as a right-handed person.

When I tell people these things, I can see total confusion on their faces. Quite funny.

Oh bowling - I do that with both hands, equally bad at each (well, maybe slightly better with the left).

This shouldn't effect the outcome though. The National party in New Zealand (the government at the time) used a 3rd party agency to source music for their 2011 TV campaign.

It turned out that the music sounded exactly like Eminem's "Lose Yourself" and he successfully sued them http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objecti...

So while it's fair to say that Netflix probably had no idea it doesn't change the fact that they're using images that were stolen.

10 years?

Yes, been 10 years since the turning point of web development! Prior, I just call it the dark days. =p
