We (Songtrust) are a music startup helping songwriters get paid more money, we are hiring python engineers, tech support, and a marketing/growth lead: http://blog.songtrust.com/jobs/

While it's a tad low to do this without any acknowledgment, this stuff happens all the time. Particularly with commercials. At least he has re-released his master and can monetize this way. This controversy will probably earn him more money than had it just been a 2 second blip in the credits.

He's donating all the proceeds after licensing fees to charity. It seems all he wants is acknowledgement that they used his mix.

The Job

Some things we use: Python / Django, AWS(ec2) + Heroku(PostgreSQL) + Rightscale, Git, JIRA, and whatever works best.

We are looking for someone with a couple of years under their belt that has put at least one significant django project into production.

Full details here: http://blog.songtrust.com/jobs/python-engineer/

To apply send a note to techjobs@songtrust.com with a link to your github, a resume, a web presence and/or a link to some of your projects.

There are plenty of companies like: http://www.indochino.com/ who will do "made to measure" for reasonable prices (these guys do sales for $50/shirt from time to time).

The equivalent price of three snarky subculture-identification T-shirts.

There's this little market called enterprise software...

A few months ago we launched a service called http://Songtrust.com, we are helping bring music publishing to songwriters of all levels. Our aim is to be as songwriter friendly as possible, we only charge a subscription and we do not take any % of royalties. We also let our songwriters opt out of the 'deal' with us at any time. That way if a traditional publisher comes knocking with a big advance check(which often is just a really bad bank loan at usurious rates - another one of the reasons publishing gets such a bad rap) or if a publisher with Sync expertise in your genre offers to better exploit (which is the technical term) your music. We also offer sync opportunities through a partnership with dms.fm on a non-exclusive basis (meaning our customers can go shop their syncs other places)

We help songwriters get affiliated with a PRO(like ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC), register all their songs and help them collect their royalties just like any other publisher. We also register their songs with The Harry Fox Agency(HFA) which will be collecting mechanicals from record sales and also from Youtube and Spotify. All of this you could do yourself but it's a huge pain in the neck involving a lot of paperwork and a ton of time. We like to think of it like having a professional do your taxes for you.

Soon we will be coming out with a product aimed at Bands instead of individual songwriters, which we hope will be a huge hit for the giant group of indie bands who will never get a publishing deal but will be owed publishing monies. We were spun out of a traditional publishing company called Downtown Music Publishing, we are well funded, have paying customers, and since this is HN I can’t help but plug that we are hiring folks who want to come help change get songwriters paid: (http://blog.songtrust.com/jobs/front-end-developer-ux-design...)

I bought a 13" max spec air right after the new Pro came out, really happy with it thus far. I will say it's not as much of a desktop replacement as the pro might be but it gets the job done. The higher resolution is very noticeable when you step down to 1280.

Zooming in is awesome. Default map view is a little weird. Slider could be a tad more responsive.(could be chrome) Overall much better than your last version.

Zooming would be even more awesome if the symbols (+ -) were not covered by the info bubble on certain seats. For example, Shea Stadium section 325. The map is fun.

This all sounds like good advice. I've been using f.lux lately and it seems to help.

I'm curious where you got 17 hours from? I've been cutting caffeine at around 5pm, but I can't help think this is later than I should.

17 hours is a calculated number.

If you're trying to make sure you're sleepy enough to fall asleep 9 hours before you have to go to work, and you look at the half-life of caffeine: 4.9 hours on average (with a huge personal variance).

If you want to be "uncaffinated" when you fall asleep (which is hopefully <=8 hours before you get up, and a good 10 hours before you leave for work), you get less than 2 half-lifes, aka you get to drop your blood caffeine level to only 25% of what you had when you stop drinking it. Remember, caffeine not only causes you to stay awake, it causes your sleep to be less deep than it otherwise would.

Additionally: Effective use of caffeine means never drinking it in the morning (the only thing caffeine helps with in the morning is treating caffeine addiction. It's an antagonist of adenosine receptors, meaning it makes it so this chemical, which doesn't show up in your brain till late in the day, can't make you sleepy).

If you find caffeine helping you at all in the morning, you need to dial back your caffeine usage. It only starts becoming effective near 5-6 hours after waking up, and it's effectiveness skyrockets as the day goes on. So basically it takes less and less to keep you up the longer you stay awake (and has almost no effect to keep you up before a few hours awake, so morning coffee is somewhat silly).

If you are trying to get the adrenaline surge you can get when: 1. Not a caffiene addict, and 2. an occasionaly drinker of strong coffee, just do a few jumping jacks (like 4-9). It will do the same thing to your heart and you'll have caffeine as an effective tool around noontime which can be used to keep you awake the rest of the day at work, yet not interfere with your sleep.

I've been east for about 6 years and this is the closest I've gotten to good Mexican food. It is start up friendly[Read:cheap] and amazing- no burritos though last I checked.
