> I ran a semi-popular German case-modding website and forum 19 years ago.

Was that casemodder.de by any chance?

I spent quite a lot of time there back in my teenage days.

I ran moddingpower.de.

Man, this brings back memories... I remember talking to someone from casemodder.de on ICQ trying to partner with them but we got into some silly argument so it never happened.

Do you remember case-gallery, pc-max and the modding toplists? Its very fun to look those pages up on archive.org, those where the days :D

But how often do people have to write down or dictate IP addresses?

Well, did it ever close?

I live in Germany and there are a few bars here that are open around the clock. Many of them hat to close for the first time in years because of the Corona lockdown.

There's an anecdote about the "Elbschlosskeller" in Hamburg: they didn't have a key for the front door at all, so they had to install a new lock to be able to lock up. Before that, the pub was open continuously for about 70 years

I'm just gonna test this here.

This comment should have a dot. The above one not.

Dot comment?

It sounds like a quite complicated, risky and expensive job to do just out of greed without any idea what to do with the stolen goods.

Because other humans pay money for this.

And we're probably not that far away from Health Insurance Companies using your toothbrush's data to calculate your rates.

Am I playing poker with my insurance companies?

In that insurance is a game of hidden information, yes.

And I can imagine the advertisements on the mirror you have to look at while shaving. Or before.

A quick message from our sponsors before your mirror sessions starts

"Sorry I'm looking a bit out of sorts, my mirror had a update so I wasn't able to do my makeup this morning"

For you, it was the day of your job interview for your first C-suite position.

For us at Microsoft...it was Tuesday.

I'm fairly sure "it's their birthday, so they get a tax break" won't work.

Are we sure? Maybe no one has tried yet...

Or a userbase that for some reason dislikes and abuses you. Maybe you have made enemies because of some random political statemant. A large enough group could ruin you.

> Rich people may not eat more food, but they may eat food that is shipped in from all over the world. They don't drive dozens of cars at once, but they do have lots of things delivered, and tend not to take public transport as much. They also tend to fly a lot more (which is a big source of emissions), and live in big houses with lots of lights and area to heat and cool.

I think it may be the other way round. Rich people are able to buy locally sourced, sustainable grown groceries, whilst poor people have to settle for cheaper, intensively farmed ones. A good example would be meat. Meat of local, free range animals is way more expensive than meat of intensive animal farming. Same with cloth; poor people aren't able to choose between cheap or ethical/biological fair trade cloth. They have to choose that, which they can afford.
