Nice but I'm unclear on what role GPT is playing?

You might be autistic is an attempt to diagnose.

What nonsense. I was doing no such thing.

I know the author is well meaning, but for some part of the population, this is just more of the same hurtful invalidation we've received our entire lives.

Being neurodivergent involves others constantly encouraging us to set ourselves up for failure.

They don't see the exhaustion so they expect us to push through. They don't have our limits so they expect us to overcome ours. They have will power to get them what we don't have so they think we aren't using ours.

There's nothing in here that hasn't occurred to me before. And it's not necessarily that the conclusions are incorrect, but that for some people they come at an extreme cost to mental health and are not truly sustainable.

I would love to hear people voicing acceptance instead of more of the same of telling us that we should try harder when we're already trying to the point of constant overwhelm.

That's not what they did at all.

Does anyone have the actual "this http url"?

Why doesn't this violate HN's rules about politics?

See these links—they contain lots of explanation about this:

Totally off-topic but I'm noticing that these comments load reasonably quickly without any paging. I remember some popular topics in the past had problems loading even after the number of comments per page was limited. Don't know who deserves it but wanted to offer kudos for the optimization work!

There's been a recent-ish (past 2-3 months?) site update which bypasses that problem, though I cannot find dang's comment announcing that.

Impact?

a ban on newly created anon and throwaways would slow these threads down. Also, too many Elon fanbois.

Microsoft is their leading investor. They don't technically own OpenAI.

And technically Musk was not the wealthiest man in the world when he bought Twitter, because he didn't had that much cash laying around in his bank accounts. And yet, when wanted, or more precisely put in corner to do so, he did shit 50 billions and bought it.

OpenAI is Microsoft, technical details don't matter here, only money.

Cash isn't technically all wealth

How?

How can an economy function if there is no way to get any value from producing anything?

Google (and Facebook, a few other platforms) made it so that the vast majority of websites are never visited. ChatGPT further erodes the possibility of tying economic value to the production of that value.

Seems like we need a new framework around "intellectual property"

Maybe off topic, but is that AI gen gore on the image of the small child looking down at his phone on the left?

Oh wow that is surprisingly spooky, looks like something out of Coraline.

And then the very next picture, a stack of hands, which just is a cruel ask for a LLM

It honestly looks more like a really, really bad photoshop cutout to me (weird but consistent edge, nose issue my be a blowout). AI generators I've used tend to get lighting more or less consistent but with edges that can waffle between blurry and sharp.
