I am sure you could write stuff like Diffentiable Processors or the like from scratch with numpy but if you respect yourself and your time, you won’t. Complicated architectures are orders of magnitude harder than writing feed forward networks from scratch. For example, see the Merlin paper.
The people that don’t understand why this is awful concent to speech regulations. I can’t see how this differs from homophobia enforced by law. Both limit a person’s freedom. It is totally different to mispronounce and to make racist remarks. The former can be solved by asking the other person the latter won’t be solved because the other person is an asshole. One is a mishap directed towards a single person and the latter towards a group of people.
Comment OP is trying to express that life is what you make of it. A PhD or an industry job at google etc etc won’t make your life interesting by themselves, but you need to make it be.
There was a recent uproar in my country because a head teacher asked a young lady to either leave the premises of the school or remove her burka as it is against the law.
The head teacher was adamant about following the law against wearing any religious symbols because he believed they caused segregation and virtue signaling. The head teacher has held everyone accountable, from students to teachers for every law in the legislation and oddly enough, every student respected him regardless of their beliefs, religion or political alignment. Additionally, their school was the most ethnically and culturally diverse in the country.
Regardless of what the burka is classified as, a religious symbol, or head clothing, wearing it is against the law, despite that, his career was ruined due to the behavior of the lady and, the exploitation of the incident by certain actors looking divert attention or political gain.
Perhaps Pastafarianism could make a dent to the culture of outrage, political discord and virtue signaling. Perhaps we can start talking as the adults we are instead of not listening like the kids we try to “protect” and “look after”.
Probably no. The issue with tabletop games is that we can model them with ease. This allows bots to play myriads of games and the ability to look ahead in possible moves.
While the researchers have probably looked into possible insect vectors, it's really not that big of a clue. Also I don't believe the suspect species are even known to be insect-borne.
Such patterns are unusual but potential explanations are plentiful. A warm climate is not only good for insects, but also for a virus trying to survive whatever way of transmission is necessary. Maybe there are two virus species that need to interact, or one virus and one other cyclical factor, and their cycles only coincide every other year.
I'd reach for the insect repellant before the tinfoil hat. Anyone know offhand an insect with a two year life cycle that has some significant stage that peaks around September?
