The UK doesn't benefit from protecting these dependencies and we're a change of government away from seeing them all brought to heel.

"The new firmware 1.3.3 is immune against this attack since it (1) requires a PIN to compute the public key and (2) uses branch-free computations for deriving the public key from the private key."

Out of interest, is there any movement between your offices? For example - if I started with you in London, would it be possible to transfer to the SF office using an L1 visa?

Hetzner used to have a bad rep for simply disabling accounts of people getting DDoSd. The have recently claimed to have improved on this https://www.hetzner.com/unternehmen/ddos-schutz

Price has jumped a bit from your presentation.

Stripe Atlas does this. Geared towards internet businesses but still could be useful - https://stripe.com/atlas

Every crypto-currency has it's zealots but that's not to detract from what Snowden said about Monero, labelling it "amateur crypto".

Ring signatures have been around longer than zk-snarks so time will tell on that comment.

I do however believe Zcash could be doing a better job for privacy, notably by mandating private transactions once the new "JUBJUB"optimizations have been merged [0].

Any idea how well alternatives like zcoin might hold up over time?

I don't know much about Zcoin. Looks promising if the description is to be believed.

Classic whataboutism.

There's also the famous tweet were Zooko said he'd consider bypassing anonymity of ZCash in order to help authorities catch the WannaCry hackers [0] [lol j/k]

I like ZCash but I think Z-transactions (anonymous) should be the default as there has been advances in the performance and memory requirements [1]

And "Zcash partners with JP Morgan" doesn't exactly scream anonymity to me.

My salary in the UK was £27.5k (North West England), I moved to Toronto and now I get paid £60,000 (about £70,000 including bonus and pension).

Best offer just prior to moving was £45k but that involved a move to London which would have hit my bottom line more than just staying put.

Toronto rents are about half London and other living costs are lower (electricity, transit etc).
