Great best practices, if you want your users to absolutely never come back to your site. Sites created like this, perfectly ilustrated by this one, look like shit and the instant loading time won't save it. It's not 1995 anymore and pure text websites with no animations will make users leave faster than your website manages to load. Even sites like Medium which focus 99% on text need to look good, otherwise they're useless. If I wanted to have pure text thrown at me I'd pick up a book, not use the Internet.
