I have like 6 of those MongoDB tshirts and they are SO COMFY

im getting the same issue just now. marketing-loader.js content looks normal enough to me

It appears as though it was just fixed. I don't think it was really malware, it was probably some technical error on some Chrome team's part.

Now imagine what happens to smaller sites...

They use anime.js for their animations https://animejs.com/

As seen in their source code here: view-source:https://bloomberg.github.io/blazingmq/assets/animations/anim...

as is caffeinated soda

I once heard that Microsoft subsidized caffeinated soda, but you had to pay for the caffeine-free options. That may just be an old wives' tale.

I'm pretty sure that's not true (worked at Microsoft in the 2000s).

Talking Rain was a popular caffeine-free soda there.

To be fair, I was told this back in the early 90s. It is the kind of policy that could easily come and go, maybe a couple times, in 10 years.

Not as much as you'd think; for me, at least, the sugar crash counteracts the caffeine.

There are a lot of caffinated seltzers now that don't have any sugar but do have flavoring and CO2

> caffinated seltzers...that don't have any sugar but do have flavoring and CO2

I think you've just defined sugarfree energy drinks.

I mean, some brands such as "Aha Sparkling Water" literally sell them as caffeinated seltzer instead of energy drinks.

Fucking hipsters.

Wouldn't this name be a copyright infringement given it's for high quality audio streaming?

I'm guessing you mean trademark, not copyright -- copyright does not make sense in the context used -- but I'm not sure why you think it would be trademark infringement.

My guess is they are referring to the similarity between the name Sonos and SonoBus.

Absolutely. Almost certainly problematic as one of Sonus’ leading value props is exactly this function - audio sync across their ecosystem.

if they want to keep it, they should come up with a viable long term business model, because obsoleting hardware isn't it. otherwise their threat hopefully will vaporize eventually, along with their non-ip stranglehold.

perhaps they meant something like “hmm, couldnt streaming copyrighted music using this app constitute a violation of rightsholders' intellectual property?”, which, on the one hand: haha; on the other hand: lmao

I was about to write a comment about how I'm not supporting a company that ruined by Google Home speaker group functionality so yeah I think Sonos would have a pretty good trademark infringement case here.

Appreciate your response! I enjoy the technical contents of this piece. Thanks for keeping an open mind for future articles!

I completely agree, this comes off as a highly sexist narrative where the expectation of a female partner is to be nothing but supportive and existing purely for the male counterpart.

Yes, it does. I avoided the trigger words because of how triggered the HN crowd can get.

And, it was banned. All I wanted is write a fictional story and vent my anger at Digitalocean.

I didn't flag it; I stated my criticism, you replied thoughtfully, life goes on, or should have anyway. Sorry that it happened.

I meant someone flagged it, not you.

The censors are humorless.

Well their Frugality principle certainly checks out according to the press. Who needs bathroom breaks when you can pee in bottles?

"Frugality Accomplish more with less. Constraints breed resourcefulness, self-sufficiency and invention. There are no extra points for growing headcount, budget size, or fixed expense."

You have always been able to run Snapchat and android apps on Windows via emulators like MEmu.

Sure, and on Mac too, but it's not easy and rarely done.

This will make anyone able to do it.

I looked at that photo and realized I knew you Small world, my co-founer and I won 2 DigitalOcean awards at HackTech and LA Hacks that you awarded us

I recall both of them. Did you win an iPad? If so, I have a picture of me giving you that prize still!

Amazing!

@erwinkle Do you realize you touched a guy who touched John McAfee?
