Basically because they manipulated me.

The guy was previously hired as a contractor.

Then, another senior SW engineer left the company and we opened a new position to replace him.

The VP told me that his friend was going to be signed, because there were issues having him as a contractor. (Actually he is quite old and should be retired). But he never mentioned that he was taking the senior SW engineer position.

One day, just by chance, I discovered that the senior position had been cancelled, talking with HR people. And, as you could imagine, I got really angry!

If it is VP of Engineering and he/she is reporting to you, one option would be to delegate the responsibility to manage the senior SWE to the VP and make both accountable to deliver the results. I think you also might need to reconsider your position as a CTO, if a VP could simply bypass you like that you have bigger issues at hand than managing the protege.

Wonderful podcasts (in Spanish) about economy and investments

Is this your blog?

Is there an official English transcription/translation? Post in other languages are usually ignored or flagged. (I think the videos in YouTube have automatic subtitles and it's possible to use automatic translation, but for now a manual version is better.)

It is not my blog. It is just a podcast that I enjoy a lot.

Sorry, but there is no "official" translation to English.

I did not know that links in other languages were flagged or ignored. I will never post like this again.

Hi from Argentina!

When it's an event covered by different sources, it's better to find a version in English.

When there is an official translation, it's better to post the translation.

But sometimes there is no English equivalent :(

I remember very few post that got traction in other languages, like "Homer in CSS" in Spanish, or a very strange custom keyboard in Japanese. It has to be very unusual, extremely good and have a strong visual component.

Worry about health and the food you eat.

Don't believe any recruiter saying you are asking for too much.

Remember people usually tell you what is good for them, no what is good for you.

It depends on your niche.

If you are designing electronics, it might help you assess some extreme cases of your circuit designs.

But, if you are asking the question, most likely is because you don't need it. Because when you need it, you definitely know it!

There are a few books by Marcus Chown that you would enjoy.

The latest I read, "Breakthrough" includes some chapters on cosmology.

I wrote a critic in my personal blog (domain is like my nickname).

My question is about the websites that have installed google ads sense.

Let's say that my question does not cover the content that is directly sponsored with the search results.

I have heard this lots of times. I just wonder if it is true.

Did not know anything about a leak, to be honest.

With some security international agencies suggesting to move on and promote postquantum criptography instead of QKD, ESA will launch a QKD service.

What do you think about it?

Attending OFC years ago, the most important conference on optical communications, I heard a sentence that I often repeat:

"Wireless means less than a wire".

Definitely, whenever I can, I choose Ethernet instead of Wifi.

This is like a PhD research.

You don't finish it. You abandon it.
