I stopped using SSH keys to authenticate against GitHub years ago and switched to HTTPS authentication. It's super convenient to set up with the GitHub CLI: https://cli.github.com/manual/

Is there any advantage of using SSH keys to authenticate against GitHub?

Yes. SSH keys work literally everywhere and not just for Github.

> This begs an obvious question: why are people choosing to do this if it pays $0/hr? It’s voluntary. Can they find something better to do with their time?

Maybe because they want to do something purposeful with their life, even if it doesn't earn them any net cash? Maybe a "Thank you" and a smile from a delivery customer makes for a better day then just being "lazy" and watching TV/consuming social media?

I find it hard to believe someone who wanted to work for free on something meaningful would choose to volunteer for DoorDash in preference to a normal charity?

I don't think most of them were in a situation to say "I want to work for free" and then chose DoorDash (per definition a for-profit job) over volunteering for charity (per definition a non-profit job). I could imagine they found the job, it generated some cash flow and only they later realized that the math doesn't work out.

Wait, the clock will be in the top left? That spot is for temporary items like notifications, not something permanent like the clock!

Try Dynalist also - https://dynalist.io

They took Workflowy and extended it (really started fresh, but that seems to be the idea)

That's actually something I'm actively looking at (along with the Bullet Journal methodology). There are gaps in the use cases...but very promising!

+1k. Don't need anything else. I think the simplicity's a mental hump for many, as I don't get why it's not more popular.

Was hoping I'd find someone recommending Workflowy.

It currently does everything except calendar dates/notifications, which I'm currently working on adding to my User Script. (Shameless plug: http://workflowier.com/)

Workflowy is incredible. It was the foundation for a system that saw me through a very productive time in my life.

I couldn't keep up with the complexity I layered in to it, so I'm building a webapp to do the mind mapping and translations to a to-do 'now' list. My biggest need was a dumping ground for all the things I knew I should be doing.

My brain is much quieter now.

Can anyone explain what exactly Workflowy is/does? I only see a login page.

Below the login button is a link, "Or try it out".

  $ alias sshammer
  alias sshammer='ssh -o ConnectionAttempts\ 10000 -o ConnectTimeout\ 5'

Nice, I was thinking autossh but this is even better. :)

Have you tried Harvest? https://www.getharvest.com/android I'd be curious to hear what you didn't like about it!

(disclosure: I work there, however not on the product side)

Haven't tried harvest before. It looks like harvest is more for teams, while my app is more directed to single individuals.

One has to create an account before one can use harvest, which is a huge turn-off for me because I don't want to create an account before I even know whether your app is the app I'm looking for. I would probably have skipped your application while searching for a solution because of this.

Harvest does have retainers and recurring invoices: https://www.getharvest.com/help/invoices-and-estimates/invoi...

(Disclosure: I work at Harvest)

Launch site is only 40 km from where I live, fun to find that on HN!

If someone wonders what those lines/structures on the hills are - those are vineyards. This region (Baden) is known for very nice wines :)
