One of the problems I have been thinking about, people can still solo mine when they have lots of capital to buy hardware. Now, most crypto miners are using pools that reward them for their hashrate. However, there are only a handful of pools that the majority of miners use, which means centralization.

The current pool distribution for Bitcoin is here: https://btc.com/stats/pool No pool has >20% today.

It is in the interests of the miners to prevent a situation where one pool takes a majority of the hash rate. Miners will migrate to smaller pools if one is getting too big.

12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson

how did you make it through all the lobster metaphors. Does it get better as you progress ?

not OP but I do wish that the lobster metaphor was the worst part of the book. I think Petereson is a great speaker and he makes interesting points but his writing drags on and on. I could hardly finish the 12 rules of life, although I thoroughly enjoyed his lectures and interviews.

absolutely same here. I also enjoy his interviews and perspective but i really couldn't go beyond the first chapter. I guess I'm not that patient :)

God to agree with the parent, his audio books are excellent. If you like Petersons work and lectures get Maps of Meaning on audio books, it's excellent.

I personally prefer the audiobook, it is easier to understand and fits my schedule.

Thanks for reminding me about this. I really want to give IHP a try. Seems like a really nice design.

For the past few years I've consumed vision health vitamins on a daily basis, and can't say that there was any noticeable improvement in my vision. On the contrary I did notice that they reduce eye pain. Some weeks I could not afford the vitamins and after hours of exposure to the computer screen, an intense pain would hit the eyes making it very difficult to continue looking at the screen. When I can afford the vitamins, I continue to consume them, with the expectation that they will continue to reduce the pain.

Magnesium. Get fl-41 lenses. Axon or thermaspec. If you ever have double vision then Next eye appointment ask to have alignment checked.

Source. Was functionally blind much of the day for a couple years.

That makes sense, the placebo effect is very potent when it comes to pain.

I'm curious, what are those "vision health vitamins"?

Why are you confident that this is not a placebo effect?

I'm not sure of another method to achieve similar results considering that this could be a placebo effect.

From what I understand, the basis of placebo is brain convincing the body. How else could this be achieved besides consuming the vitamins? It seems to me that we haven't gotten that far yet.

Here Is a Gist where I compare Crystal, Go, OCaml including compile time. https://gist.github.com/s0kil/155b78580d1b68768a6c601a66f8e2...

Why did you combine compile time and execution time?

The idea is to have a balance of compilation + runtime performance.

Development I suppose

So Crystal is trying to beat C++?

I did this in Java on Jdk 8 and it took 6 seconds.

Here is a much more fair comparison: Ocaml vs Crystal vs Go:

I'm guessing you are referring to: http://fastcompression.blogspot.com

I'm currently refreshing on math topics because of that, I do not mind very technical resources. I find there is not a lot of information online regarding low-level details of video codecs, having any resources is greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

Would be great to have an example of Guess.js with https://github.com/sveltejs/sapper
