Lol, I'm from Mississauga too - We were your competitors; www.blip.delivery and worked with lots of construction companies in Toronto who wanted to do same-day deliveries.

I ended up selling the company to a customer, but it's really cool to see another company in the space, who's also in the same city as we were!

That's cool, we should meet up and share our experiences! Send me an email at chris@roomerator.com

My second pair was a $200 Shaman, and they were great, unfortunately I was using them when I had limited knowledge and experience, I got them resoled once, and while worth it, I purchased a low end pair ($100) as my secondary, and have found them 90% functional compared to the high end pairs, and have been sticking with them over the high performance shoes.

They're great, but like yourself, I'm not a pro, or a prospective pro, I do it for fun, and health. I'm not going to pay $200 every 4 months for a new pair, or even resole.

From my understanding of the article, they are Cuban beans.

TL:DR - Funds routed through the US are subject to US laws and regulation, no matter if the origin, and terminating point consider the act legal.

Long: If they held the funds, it's because someone at the ACH saw the business name, and automatically assumed that there was a potential liability (that happens, it's rare, but they will shut you out until you talk to them to prove your innocence).

If they were the more enterprising type, the person who made the call looked up their web site and read how they purchase their beans from Cuba. While fully legal in Canada, if the funds are routed through the US(I can almost guarantee it), JP Morgan can be held liable, and as such they would like to avoid the repercussions of the US government.

They're forcing people to online accounts by putting the offline option in the basement, it's the standard 'nudge' in software. Eventually they'll eliminate it completely.

Some would consider this one a dark pattern, I would agree in this case.

Except maybe in a “home edition” that can’t eliminate it completely. Businesses will flip their shit if employees needed an MS account.

It would mean the death of Windows.

> Businesses will flip their shit if employees needed an MS account.

Not necessarily. Remember that Windows is an Azure product now. They want employees in the cloud paying for Office 365 anyway.

Just migrate your business accounts to Microsoft.

I bet some companies will end up doing exactly that. For others there will probably remain an exception that will cost extra.

(I may be saying this as if it's normal, but I need to turn up my cynicism quite a bit to fit this reality.)

It seems most people on HN (and to their credit, they also admit), they have limited recent experience with MySQL, so they don't know that they are 99% functionally equivalent (with edge cases being better for one or the other).

That looks awesome. It's definitely something to look into. For the time being we don't have the resources to set something like that up, but it's good to know for the future, thanks!
