I want to second the Notes From Underground recommendation. I took a class focused on Dostoevsky as an elective in college and the professor had us start with reading Notes From Underground. It did a fantastic job of setting the tone and expectations for the course. One of the few things I read in college that I actually have held onto my copy of.
Yeah I wanted to point this out. In Texas it is the top 10% for every public university except the University of Texas at Austin which varies the percentage from year to year depending on the expected number of applicants. 6% is the lowest I have seen it. I believe it was 8% the year I was accepted.
I'm a subreddit mod for a decent sized esports subreddit and we have an "official" discord for our sub. Our rational for this is it provides a good medium for real time reactions to games/matches that can be shorter and more like twitch chat without having to be actual twitch chat. We noticed too that once we created the discord there was an overall quality increase in the actual posts/comments on the subreddit because most of the less thorough stuff got posted to discord instead.
It also provides a good outlet for people looking to find others to game or hangout with that share at least a few similar interests.
