FF throws an insecure warning so I can't check it out

> Managing a large company is not something a software engineer could do

That is essentially saying that people who are software engineers have only one set of skills.. which is just false obviously.

I'll need to thread lightly before I get banned by Dang for not loving the british queen!

If we observed monkeys and saw that one was showered with gifts and jewellery their whole lives because they were offspring of two other particular monkeys.. we would chuckle at that. Not for being the strongest, tallest, biggest, smartest or best at something. Just for existing.

> I've never saw a software engineer hoard some knowledge for a competitive edge.

Not even in work?

Suggestion: Let users share their piecharts via a link/image on twitter, reddit etc.

Can someone post a link to anything on Mastodon? I have never seen it used and never even heard it mentioned outside of HN

Here you go, a pigeon and cat interacting through a window https://mastodon.art/@welshpixie/108961962539795706 :)

Thanks!

What is "Manifest v3"?

I was wondering the same. I think it's a new standard for how Chrome extensions work?

I hope it doesn't affect FF users, and uBlock Origin will continue to function same as it always has.

Why hope? If a market majority product does something, so does the rest of the market. Especially now that Firefox has like 3% market share.

Fresh info regarding mv3 & FF:

Plus commuting is terrible for the environment. Nobody discusses that either.

Especially in America, where the push for a return to office work seems to be the strongest.

Plenty of internet commenters discuss it.

Here's my thoughts:

Companies think they will see a higher turnover when people are WFH. This is because the job is just a job - it's no longer making friends at the office or having a personal space or routine. In my job, some people have worked together for 15 years. That makes it hard to leave because you're not just leaving the day-to-day work but all the relationships that have grown over the years.

Getting new joiners up to speed takes more effort when WFH and companies think these people won't integrate as well. And if they don't integrate they will more likely leave for another job. GOTO first paragraph.

That is not that interesting. It's something everyone realizes when they try make a budgeting app. Plaid decided to break the rules to create a product. They collected end users authentication details and pretended to be them to scrape data from financial institutions.

Risking every penny I own by trusting credentials with Plaid is a worthwhile trade off for having to deal with my bank’s website less.
