Google is like capitalism. It sucks, but it's the best we got.
It's been decades, I can literally feel the cheap quality of results from anything other than Google. It's like holding that cheaper looseleaf that you can see through kind of.
This is not longer true. Try the most used search engines in the poll and you will likely find an alternative with less ad supported links and content.
redux-query seems a popular library for dealing with API calls in react.
I’m having a real hard time being polite right now. Do we have an education problem because where is this person getting their information that they think redux-query is popular?
Accumulating that much wealth means you were in a frenzy. It’s good he snapped out of it. Take someone like Elon or Bezos, 10 billion is not enough, 100 isn’t, 200 isn’t. We have people that are still in a manic greed phase.
It’s karma that the ghost of Hitler possessed Elon’s body. Simple greed can destroy a soul too. You have no idea the supernatural forces that will dock in your soul if you make it a comfortable nesting place.
I guess what I’m asking is, as innocent as those things you’ve listed are, are they really pursuits of a sound heart? Your first three suggestions can be named after you, for example (if you catch my drift here as a critique of the ego).
As in, you know those prices can’t be looked at without … I don’t know how else to spin it, it’s impossible to do without being greedy.
Maybe it’s the changing interest rates or political winds, but I think the “fat client” era JS-heavy frontends is on its way out.
This is just not going to be true. It’s an AI world and we need to funnel so much high velocity text and dynamic UIs to provide a high fidelity experience.
Investing in static server rendered pages is just a surrender, the long surrender that people desperately seek from the onslaught of JavaScript.
But it won’t happen, it will either be JS or another language, but server side pages is the wrong bet.
I can't agree with the quoted sentiment either. Even I attempt to remove all my bias, most of the tools I use to work (app developer) are fat javascript clients.
Yeah. There’s been a little bit of a puritanical pursuit back out of SPA on HN (it might actually be isolated to here honestly, almost like a local band that plays in the neighborhood), but it’s an emotional over correction (imho) to the exhausting JS climate.
Nevertheless, the facts on the ground are the facts on the ground.
Any engineering manager or team leader that does not actively look for this is not qualified for that position. It’s bullying. The teacher has to step in. The thing this post is describing is something I’ve witnessed in at least two companies.
Often times the perpetrator is a high performer who is given this latitude.
Not sure I follow. Are you referring to the contributors behaviour as bullying? If so, I would agree to a certain extent. Although its not the typical kind that one would come across.
Yes, the asshat is a bully. I have to be transparent and express that I have been an asshat as well, but hurt people hurt people (it is absolutely not an excuse). You have to recognize it.
All sins are done together, but I’ll try not to use such language as its inflammatory. We make the mistakes together, and we have to fix them together.
Right, and not everyone is perfect :) . As a manager myself, I find it difficult to background check (if you will) potential hires for this. 90% + of candidates have never contributed to an open source project to the extent of creating a PR.
