Apparently, the consensus is that your original advice is more correct. I think it's accurate enough because both take some effort to pull off.

It did double my memory usage from 1G to 2G. I'm using python. I was shocked that the increase would be so big. Most of this data is in dict's.

So now I run the memory intensive stuff in 32 bit chroots:

I made a little script to make getting into the chroot environment easy:

#!/usr/bin/env bash

linux32 chroot /mnt/gentoo32 /bin/bash -c "source /etc/profile;env-update;bash"

I thought the hold-ups were patent/licensing related? Wikipedia concurs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo_code

ECC's are so interesting.

Yes. I used to get nearly all of my programming information from books or at least tutorials. Now I get nearly all of it just from resources scattered around the web.

I've never read a book on programming. I read books for certain things: I love books on marketing and I'll probably read Tufte in hard form, I have a copy of his stuff. But for programming I learned almost exclusively online: nowadays, I use the online books that Coda provides.

To be fair, I'm not a brilliant programmer. So I don't know if I'm missing out by learning online.

Online dating is about to take a big dive.

Your hosting provider is behaving terribly. I'd change providers right away. You don't need a dedicated server either.

Do you want to ban all collections of related information, or just articles that tell you how many items there are in the title?

This is silly, not only essays are useful.

Unless you want to delay it until birthdays or some other event that's weeks or months away.

at lets you specify dates as day/month/year. All you have to do is make sure the computer is running at that time, which is easy if you do this on your mail server.

That I know. I would never depend on a command line command to execute something months from now. Not on any system.

No kidding.
