Kind of off-topic, but I wonder what the reasoning behind blocking some sites like Sony Japan was.

Is there an alternate article that isn't behind a paywall?

And here I was hoping that I'd be able to afford a place in Waterloo eventually (I've already given up hope for a home in the GTA).

Why WhatsApp? Messages are E2E encrypted so it's fairly safe to use. Are you worried about metadata collection?

I am worried about backdoors, keys being stored somewhere else, ...

So they're mad that the stream they shared publicly was seen by the public?...

It was rebroadcast on TV. Try doing the same by posting a broadcast TV show on the net...

If you post 22 seconds from a 45 minute TV show[1], adding commentary on how it was in some way significant, I suspect you could make a reasonably strong case that it constitutes fair use (assuming the use of the footage is even challenged, which seems somewhat unlikely for a 22 second clip).

[1] "ABC used a tiny fraction of the footage—22 seconds from the original 45 minute Video", per https://arstechnica.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Kanongata...

Do a 22 second highlight clip from an NFL game and see how far you get without their consent.

If you do it just to show the video, that's not fair use. That's just copying. If you do it to highlight something newsworthy that you're currently reporting on? That's fair use. That's exactly what the court ruling says, that it's fair use because something newsworthy was happening.

Read the article: CPS took their baby away.

If you read the comments below the article, the reason CPS was called was because someone recognised the couple from an earlier case. In 2015, they both were apparently arrested after blowing up a shed in their backyard while attempting to make "honey oil" (hash oil made using a solvent, typically butane or propane). Dome's kids (at the time) were taken away by CPS after the incident. Both Dome and her (now) baby-daddy were arrested, along with some other person.

Sure, but my point is that it's more complicated than "mad because FB streamed the thing they were streaming."

But if they hadn't shared the video publicly, that person likely wouldn't have seen the video and wouldn't have reported them to CPS. If you've got any kind of legal problems, you should probably be a little more protective of your privacy.

Just bought a brand new 9360 and the coil whine is definitely not gone.

I just bought an XPS 13 9360 and returned it due to the coil whine. I've never had that issue on my Macs before so once I get refunded I'm going to buy a MBP instead.

I've been hearing about the coil whine for ages, but I've never heard it over multiple 9550s and a 9360. I'm even in an office right now surrounded by the 9550s which were supposed to be plagued by the issue. Is it that the whine is occurring at a frequency I can't hear?

my T450s has coil whine but you have to be in a dead silent room to hear it, I assume it would be the same for the Dells

It's loud enough on my 9350 I can hear it clearly over the top of music or videos playing.

I'm in a similar boat. I'm replacing my 2013 13" Pro with a new XPS 13. It just came yesterday so I can't really review it at this point, but I'm impressed so far.

Maybe, but it may not be a huge issue. I've had very good luck using apps split-screen in Android 7.0, which has a similar aspect ratio to classic BB devices.

Good point. I was going to disagree with you, but then I tested some apps just to make sure. I'm actually surprised how much stuff works with split-screen. I have apps that I use once in a blue moon, for example the Avianca app, and it works despite throwing the "this app may not work with split-screen" notification. Same for Spotify.

For those in North America, Turo seems to be pretty good for Airbnb-style car rentals.

I've used Getaround as both a renter and owner, and have had a pretty positive experience. The killer featured is the "Connect" kit they install in your car, that lets a renter unlock the car with a smartphone -- no need to coordinate key handoff/pickup. It also gives you free 2FA for your car; you need to unlock with the app before the key will start the engine.
