Do you support marketplace models (internationally)?

Hey, yep! Stripe Connect works in all our live and beta countries: https://stripe.com/connect.

Our direct payouts product (https://stripe.com/blog/send-payouts-with-stripe) is currently US-only, but we're working on expanding it.

ETA on payouts in Canada?

(I work at Stripe). No ETA yet, but we're actively working on it.

Wow, that judge would not stop interrupting the lawyer. Is that typical?

It seems that judges can be jerks sometimes.

I was once a witness to a traffic accident, and had to go to court. The judge asked the defendant (whose inattention caused the accident) what happened, and his story wound up "and so the other guy was shaken up but not injured". The judge then gave a several minute harangue over his presumption in knowing what happened to the other guy.

Finally he asks the guy "how do you KNOW that he wasn't injured?". The guy replies, "I went to see him to apologize, and he TOLD ME that he wasn't injured."

Of course, the "told me" what second-hand so probably not admissible, but it sure didn't warrant the rant that the judge gave him.

Anecdotal, but every Judge I've met (outside of their working environment) was a pretty self-important asshole, and I've met a number...

Not always the case I'm sure but it has always made me rethink the idea of a Judge as an 'impartial' adjucator

wow lol. When I went to court years ago to defend a traffic ticket, I took the elevator up to the 3rd floor. At the second floor, the doors opened to reveal a group of people waiting to hop in.

The judge in the elevator with me quickly reached over me and pressed the "Door Close" button. This closed the doors, preventing the waiting people from getting on and the car continued to the next floor where he and I got off.

>Anecdotal, but every Judge I've met (outside of their working environment) was a pretty self-important asshole

I'm not terribly surprised, given that judges are pretty used to being referred to (ridiculously enough) as "Your Honor", are they not? Or is that TV shit?

That's because speculation about what someone knows is not admissible. If there was a jury there the judge was probably upset it might affect their verdict.

Also, hearsay can be admissible. In this case the "told me that he wasn't injured" would be allowed because statements by someone going against their own interest are allowed.

Yes, and lawyers go into these hearings anticipating being interrupted with questions.

It sounded less like being interrupted with questions, more so with accusations that what the lawyer intended to argue was unrealistic, because the agency (that has been shown to work outside of the bounds of their intended mission spying on personal interests/lying to congress/etc) would only do what was morally right, and within the intended (but unwritten) letter of the law.

But you are right in that he probably should have been prepared for this as well. Its not unthinkable that judges would be adversarial to this sort of defense/line of thinking.

Can you do this sort of thing in the US? Are the legal/political barriers too high?

Hi, there is already people doing things like that in the US, like the Free Network Fundation : https://www.thefnf.org/

They're pretty awesome.

If you need to run any cables/fiber over any property that you don't own, then yeah.

If you just want to set up a DSL reseller account, knock yourself out.

Great books, like others have said, thanks!

I live in Nashville and I have lived in Chattanooga and I definitely don't share your sentiment. Maybe it's not obvious to you, but there are some phenomenal happenings here.

"If you want to see a traditionally conservative, "sleeper tech city" look no further than Greenville, SC. Greenville has recently (in the last 7 years) entered a rapid development phase with numerous tech startups, co-work facilities, etc"

Nashville has checked all of those boxes.

Did I mentioned we have an incredibly active developer community here? Its not all big healthcare companies running Java & .Net, for instance, there is Emma (http://myemma.com/), Stratasan (http://www.stratasan.com/), The Skillery (http://www.theskillery.com/), Wannadao (https://www.wannadolocal.com/), inquicker (https://inquicker.com/), Moontoast (http://www.moontoast.com/), etc

We have events like coderfaire, hacknashville, hack-a-day, nashville code brigade, nashville user group leadership (group), etc

We also have very active user groups for functional programming, dynamic languages, ruby, php, python, javascript, flash, etc

We have tons of co-working locations, not going to name them all.

Not to mention that a ton of large SV types have remote workers here (I'm looking at you Github, SurveyMonkey, etc).

We have an incubator (http://jumpstartfoundry.com/).

What makes a city a "sleeper tech giant"?

Hey everyone, we are accepting talks, I encourage you to submit: http://www.pytennessee.org/speaking/cfp/

Good luck if you had "find my phone" turned on.

Required starting in DFU mode + restore. Didn't think to try option + update as eggbrain mentioned above. Does this mean Find My iPhone can be circumvented with a DFU mode restore?

> Does this mean Find My iPhone can be circumvented with a DFU mode restore?

I am just speculating, but perhaps iOS 7 GM and later cannot be circumvented but the beta versions could be. This might be intentional - after all, it's beta code. The circumvention might be a plan B.

I just made the same mistake, restoring with DFU. It doesn't bypass the Find My iPhone lock though, you still need to do the activation, but it will let you activate.

Why? Because you have to type in your Apple ID and password once you do the DFU restore?

I have Find My Phone turned on. Can I just upgrade / restore the iPhone?

If you have find my phone turned on:

0. Go to iCloud and disable find my phone for your device 1. Download the GM final OS7 build 2. Restart in recovery mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808#sthash.qByAjn0z.dpuf 3. Do NOT click ok when prompted to restore your phone 4. Click the secret command/alt combination with the restore button. 5. Select the downloaded OS7 file. your phone will fix itself

Real asshole move of Apple to suddenly brick your phone then provide no instruction for how to do this instead of... you know just allowing the phone to automatically update or activate. Hope that you didn't have anything better to do with your life for the last hour.

Thank you for posting this. I was in this boat and I don't think I would have figured it out otherwise. I owe you a beer.

Also, in case anyone else is reading this, I was also getting mysterious "Unknown Errors" from iTunes when trying the restore, it was because I hadn't updated iTunes to the very very latestest.

Actually I completely disagree with you. Coming to Clojure with absolutely no lisp or functional programming background (and little java experience), and while it's been challenging to learn a new way of thinking, it wasn't hard to find documentation, read source code, or ask a question in #clojure. Leiningen really made the process more streamlined.

http://cemerick.com/2012/05/02/starting-clojure/ http://clojure-doc.org/ http://clojure.org/cheatsheet

and (source <thing>) have been great resources.

I too have been enjoying Clojure with the same ferocity as the above poster. I also really recommend Python, as its got some solid engineering practices "baked in" and a great community to boot.

I would love one! ryan@hackery.io
