Min_p author here: I’m convinced that the whole field critically misunderstands temperature (I.e temperatures limited to 2 is very harmful for diverse generation). Articles like this are excellent and very cool.

Hacking your LLM inference engine to enable cool sampling tricks is the definition of AI research/engineering. We need more of this and less prompt grifting.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the problem is that it is almost impossible to evaluate sampling methods. You can't just look at perplexity and conclude that A is better than B. So you need large-scale expensive human evaluations. Even if you have those it is difficult to extrapolate results since what sampling method works best depends on the dataset(s).

No they weren't. Autism is as a result of endocrine disruptions through environmental contamination along with a significant amount of heredity transmission. Same reason why T rates, sperm rates, fertility, are cratering.

Unironically trying to villify the "Atrazine is turning the frogs gay" guy is going to look really stupid to liberals very soon.

You should read the criticism section of that Wikipedia article. The quotes read like a whose who of qualified autism reserachers.

It doesn't seem like you're trying to have a good faith discussion when your final sentence reads like a willful conflation of an academic and Alex Jones's comments, which were that atrazine is being intentionally put into the water supply by the government as a form of chemical warfare in order to reduce the population by making people gay.

Im adding a second comment for the frogs thing, since its really a separate issue.

I'm very liberal and never made fun of the researcher who identified that atrazine makes frogs gay. It does objectively mess with amphibian development.

I did, and still do, mock Alex Jones for insisting that it was government conspiracy "chemical warfare operation" designed to do... something. That makes exactly as much sense as his Sandy Hook nonsense or pizzagate.

All the games that "don't work" are the games that PEOPLE ACTUALLY PLAY!

It's always hardcore multiplayer games with the actual crowd. Using linux for gaming is a great way to continue down the path to becoming a recluse.

It really depends on what you play. I've been playing online co-op regularly with a bunch of friends since Covid times. We're jumping to new (well, on sale) games regularly, and the only recent time I booted to Windows was because a 4-player mod for Remnant II _might_ not work on Linux. Can't remember the previous game that did not work on Linux. I'm so used to things working without major tinkering that I forget to check protondb most of the time.

I actually don't like to play with random people on the internet.

I prefer the comfort of knowing them, and usually do it in the old basement LAN party way.

In my young time we didn't have internet, and we were actually LESS recluse overall ;-)

I play Helldivers 2 on Linux, and there are TONS of people playing.

Good. I fully believe that a Ketar class SCP object is real which is responsible for keeping billions of humans okay with living in a world where we mass Circumcise hundreds of millions baby boys in countries like the USA.

It is mutilation.

Also, this issue is how the left gets men back to vote for it again. If the left is unwilling to throw men a bone with this issue, they will lose men as a majority left wing voting bloc forever.

I don't believe there are very many circumcision single issue voters

You are shortsighted.

What Trump has proven is that millions of single issue voters can be created on any issue if a political party desires it.

Underestimating this reality will only keep political parties that depend on unwritten rules of decorum from winning more and more elections.

There are now new unwritten rules of election issue decorum. Which is to say there are no longer any unspoken rules of election issue decorum. I'd strongly urge everyone to acclimate themselves to that reality sooner rather than later.

I remember around 2016 seeing videos on social media of Clinton endorsing circumcision campaigns.

That's because of the IRL SCP object! Destroy it and they will soon exist in droves!

This is satire, right? Or reasoning by analogy... right??

I looked up "SCP object", and boy that was a rabbit hole. Interesting and entertaining, sure. But if you "fully believe" in anything on that website, please try to confirm your reality with observations or lived experience rather than text from the internet.

Here's an excerpt from SCP's "Guide For Newcomers"[1]:

> This is the SCP Foundation Wiki, a collaborative writing site based around the premise that… in essence, magic is real. It's not exactly like the traditional fantasy style magic you've come to know, but that's the best way we can describe the stuff we have here - Anomalies; items and critters that do not follow the rules of nature as we know them. Staircases that go on forever, mechanical gods from the beginning of time, otherwise regular humans who reshape reality with their mind: these are the kinds of things that, if known to the public, could cause mass hysteria and start wars on scales unprecedented. Due to that, there exists an organization called the SCP Foundation, whose job is to research paranormal activity, keep these creatures and objects concealed from the public, and protect humanity from the horrors of the dark.

I don't believe in that and it sounds totally out there, yet it's far less extreme than infant genital mutilation.

That's my point. Yes it's tongue-in-cheek. No I'm not an SCP version of a "furry" or "otherkin" who thinks that their make believe universe is real.

It's an analogy for the INSANITY of the current acceptance of mass circumcision uncritically by the masses.

You don't need a "Ketar class SCP object", simple conflict of interest from the Medical-Industrial Complex will do.

All those skin banks could turn into liabilities instead of profit centers, since preservation of the product is also preservation of the evidence.

A functioning government would waltz in, keep the power on, start sequencing the tissues and cells to identify at least some of the victims, and do this in a transparent and public way.

Are those victims not capable of identifying themselves if they feel they were indeed victimized?

(but for context, my own view on the subject is "Let's wait a hot minute before we go cutting parts off the baby")

The problem is evidence, its not like those urologists like incriminating themselves. Even though my trauma occurred in hospital, its not in my medical file. How does one even start to file an official complaint if it didn't happen according to your medical file?

Thank you for elaborating! Your original comment was abstract and high-handed, but this makes it clear you're coming from a place of wanting to solve your own specific problem.

Practically if you know you were circumcised shortly after your birth, can't you look at the record of your birth and subsequent care, make a list of doctors that attended or treated you in any way, and then make the complaint about all of them?

(this isn't arguing against your point, just exploring the problem)

WTF is a “Ketar class SCP object”?

That does not really prove much. Not really clear the charges the fed had were well thought out. The general sovereign citizen test always fails because those folks still want to participate in society.

I don't hold calculators to high bars. They think 0.1 + 0.2 = 0.30000000000000004:

Some of them. The good ones don't.

The people who think that high end GPUs don't last for ~5 years (really it's 6) do not know what they are talking about. 6 years is likely too low. If the cooling is good and they don't fail early, most of these GPUs could still keep going past 6 years.

I'm convinced that anything with more than 80gb of VRAM will be worth it for closer to 10 years at this point.

Stuff like this is unironically (okay, kind of ironically) why I identify as a landchad.

You just got pink elephanted. Better learn what the other setting in your model do. There’s more to playing with LLMs than prompts. There’s a whole world of things like sampler settings or constrained generation schemas which would fix all of your and everyone else’s problems in this thread.

It’s pretty much trivial to design structured generation schemas which eliminates sycophancy, using any definition of that word…
