> Why not finance a more wide tax break for tech companies, including small companies?

Because then these communists wouldn't get to choose who gets the money.

Many cases during the GWOT. People in the wrong place at the wrong time accused of being terrorists, rendered, tortured, held without trial, or tried in secret courts with secret evidence.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/most-guantanamo-detainees-are-...

Anyone taken prisoner must be given an opportunity to be heard, to be able to give evidence that they aren't the right guy.

(To be clear, there's no indication the subjects of this story have been so detained)

Is this the particular attack reported by Google last month that the NSA warning was about?

https://cloud.google.com/blog/topics/threat-intelligence/rus...

[edit: yes, it is. https://www.scribd.com/document/843124910/NSA-full]

Something is not right. The sequence of the story starting with the accidental invite and the total ignorance that the "guest" was there. The pieces of the puzzle are not puzzling. The ideal next step would be a forensic device audit.

Also, taking into consideration something as simple as UNC5792, what if the "guest" was bridged-in? iykwim

They could have just kept it at customs and sent a letter saying it's illegal and let that be the end of it.

Whoever was involved in creating a circus out of it should be fired.

When you say it like that it is so obvious. If we collectively kept our heads out of our asses and just thought how to deescalate things rather than be parsimonious little nobodies we would all be better.

The other day somebody said I could not join a huge table in a coworking space because there was a meeting. Private meeting tables or rooms are paid and require reservation and that table was in the common area. I got annoyed because the guy did not ask if I could wait and go to another table, instead he just matter of fact told me they were having a meeting and would rather I would not sit in the free seats. I told him that I believe this was a public usage table, to which he then asked if I could allow them to remain alone. I considered being a prick but then I considered, what would be the gain of antagonising a dude that also goes there often and all for the pleasure of sitting in my favourite table? I stewed a bit but the next day I forgot it. If I had confronted him I would be reminded of the incident every time I crossed the guys path.

Thank you, Canada. Your position is common sense and level-headed.

lol 3 billion.

Is that what they're pledging as an appetizer while they bring a serious proposal to help? Otherwise why even bother?

The UK has already contributed over £12 billion in support to Ukraine since 2022, making it one of the largest European donors. This additional £2.2 billion isn't an 'appetizer' but part of sustained, long-term support.

Instead of dismissing allies' contributions, perhaps consider that effective support for Ukraine requires many nations doing what they can within their means (and their GDP). The UK consistently steps up, and every contribution strengthens Ukraine's position."

Furthermore, the $2.85 billion pledge represents approximately 5% of the UK's annual defense budget (which is roughly £50-55 billion).

Your comments are not very constructive or informed about the realities of international aid. When measured proportionally against national capabilities, this is a substantial commitment that will fund critical defense systems Ukraine needs.

Dismissing allies' contributions doesn't help Ukraine - recognizing and encouraging sustained support does.

You don't need to run the server to backdoor the client. You just need access to push updates to the client. It doesn't matter who runs the server.

I'd like to make a prediction:

The requirements will be modified to include a larger number of sites whenever the government may find this to be convenient. The MAU will limit will be reduced, and/or the scope of "illegal/harmful content" will be expanded.

Reminder: Dump your password manager database into cleartext backups regularly. Store them on encrypted media (eg. USB stick with FileVault, VeraCrypt, or similar)

Then you will not be totally screwed if your password manager does a rug pull against you such what Bitwarden is doing with this change.

How is this new policy a rug pull?

It's a password manager. It must never, under any circumstances, add any additional barriers to getting in that aren't explicitly configured by the user.

This is going to lock out many users. They will not realize this new arbitrary requirement to be able to access the email address. They will lose their existing device. They will get a new device, install Bitwarden, and try to login with their master password, only to find that Bitwarden has moved the goal posts. They will be locked out of everything.

Even if 99.99999% of users would benefit from this change, Bitwarden shouldn't do it because it'll unfairly lock out 0.00001%. If they really want to do this change, then they should have like 2 years of warnings displayed on existing clients, and also have an option to permanently disable any 2FA requirement.

Trudeau needs to call an election now. His government doesn't have the support to take any action. Him and his Liberals are finished, and it's totally inappropriate for them to negotiate this issue.

Trudeau is the currently elected Prime Minister, and it appears that Singh and many other Canadian Federal MPs and provincial leaders are aligned.

There is an upcoming leadership race, and then an election. Calling an election now, presumably with Trump tariff orders coming out tomorrow would lock Canadians into an election with a caretaker government that would be unable to pass any meaningful legislation. It would be monumentally stupid and your comment makes it clear you have little to no understanding of our government.
